Women’s Cross Country/Track and Field

639

Track & Cross Country has a deep OSU tradition, and the State of Oregon holds the sport near and dear. OSU Track’s philosophy is to capture this energy and create a program that the City of Corvallis and University can be proud of, and support at the highest level. Corvallis offers a wonderful environment to live, train and compete. The program’s goal is to continue to create a culture of respect, competition, and service.

In the past, the program produced 15 Olympians and four world record holders as well as achieving OSU’s first national championship. When Oregon State decided to compete in women’s track and cross country after a 16-year hiatus in 2004, it marked the return of a storied tradition at OSU. The commitment by OSU donors and administration to women’s track and field and cross country was self-evident with the opening of the Whyte Track and Field Center in the summer of 2012.

OSU Track and Cross Country Facilities

The first phase of a $7.5 Million track and field center was completed in the summer of 2012 and is home to OSU Track and Cross Country. The project will be completed in three phases – the first phase includes track, turf infield, and hammer throw area and the second phase includes grandstands, press box, scoreboard, entry plaza, lights, distance plaza and competitive staging area. Our goal is to raise $3.5 million. The final phase of the project is a $5 million endowment to bring back the men’s track team at Oregon State.
